Care & Maintenance

Regular dusting – every few days or so – is the best way to keep your device looking shiny and prevent dust from settling on the wood. Soft cloths and feather dusters work best, but they only move the dust away from the furniture, not out of the air. A lambs-wool duster with lanolin or a slightly damp terry cloth will capture dust and keep your device dust-free for a few more days.

Cleaning – The finish is durable and resistant to most household spills. However, spills should be wiped up promptly to avoid potential problems. For most routine wood cleaning, a soft cloth dampened with warm, soapy water will do the trick. Do not use cleaning products on this device, Windex, furniture polish, etc. Your finish does not benefit from them, and they tend to build up a film on the finish that will attract dust and soil.

Speakers – If the speaker drivers get something on them. Use a damp cloth, not wet. With water only to clean them. Be careful, the speaker components can be damaged if too much force is used. The rubber surround should only be dusted with a dry cloth. Any kind of liquid could leave a permanent discoloration.

Control the Environment – This device as any wood responds to changes in temperature and humidity by expanding and contracting slightly. You must keep the indoor humidity in the 30 to 45 percent range and the temperature in the 60 to 80-degree range 365 days a year.

That being said, if you are comfortable the speaker should be fine. Ultraviolet light from the sun and fluorescent fixtures can cause chemical changes in the wood and/or finish. Avoid placing this device in an area where the sun will shine directly on it. Keep it away from direct sources of heating and cooling. Avoid storing in a damp or wet area.

warnings & hazards

This device has a Li-Ion Battery inside.

Do not operate or leave this device in direct sunlight. Such as a vehicle dashboard or a window sill, or exposed to high temperatures such as a vehicle parked in the sun. Doing so may cause the lithium-ion battery to leak. Do not leave this device near a heat source, such as a stove or furnace.

Use only the battery charger and AC adapter supplied with this device. (Directions for finding a replacement can be found on our support page.) Do not force a plug into the charge receptacle if it does not fit. Connecting the battery with the positive and negative terminals reversed will cause it to charge incorrectly, and may result in abnormal chemical reactions internally that lead to leakage, overheating, explosion, or fire.

Do not charge this device in any place exposed to direct sunlight, such as a vehicle dashboard or a window sill, or exposed to high temperatures such as a vehicle parked in the sun. High temperatures may activate the built-in protection mechanism designed to avoid accidents, preventing the battery from being charged, or the protection circuit may break, resulting in applying abnormal current or voltage when charging, and leading to overheating, explosion or fire.

Do not short the pins in the charging receptacle or connect the positive and negative terminals of the lithium-ion battery with a metal object.  Metal objects may short-circuit the positive and negative terminals of a lithium-ion battery, resulting in allowing a large electrical current, which may result in overheating, explosion or fire of the battery, or overheating of the metal object.

Lithium-ion batteries have finite life spans. The batteries in our devices are good for over 1000 charges.  If the battery requires constant recharging or has short operation times replace it with a new one. See below for replacement.

Hidden

This could be caused by several things. First charge the battery. If the battery is low then the amp will be running on low power causing the sound to be distorted. The light on the charger will be red if the battery is low and green if the battery is fully charged.

The volume on your Bluetooth device could be too high. If the volume on your Bluetooth device is too high, it could also cause distortion. The signal to the speaker is too high so it would be like turning the volume on the speaker too high. A good rule of thumb is to turn the volume down on the Bluetooth box. Turn the volume on your phone or other Bluetooth device up to about 3 or 4 clicks from maximum. Then slowly turn the volume up on the Bluetooth box until the desired volume is reached. You can experiment with settings and find the combination that works for you.

The volume on your Bluetooth device could be too high. If the volume on your Bluetooth device is too high, it could also cause distortion. The signal to the speaker is too high so it would be like turning the volume on the speaker too high. A good rule of thumb is to turn the volume all the way down on the Bluetooth box. Turn the volume on your phone or other Bluetooth device up to about 3 or 4 clicks from maximum. Then slowly turn the volume up on the Bluetooth box until the desired volume is reached. You can experiment with settings and find the combination that works for you.

I get no sound from my Bluetooth speaker

Is the blue power light on? Look at the front of the box or the power switch depending on model. If not then charge the battery, when the battery gets low the speaker will not turn on. This is a safety feature of the battery protection circuit to keep the battery from draining all the way to zero. Which will destroy the battery.

If your Bluetooth box has a single knob for volume, this knob is also the mute button. Press the knob in to turn off the mute feature.

Your volume could be too low to hear. The Bluetooth boxes with single volume knobs have an infinite volume knob. What that means is the volume is not proportional to volume knob location. Keep turning the knob in the clockwise rotation until you hear sound. From no volume to full volume takes about 10 turns on the volume knob.

My speaker has too much or not enough bass or treble

We tune these speakers to have a flat output. We don’t boost the bass or treble, but you can adjust it with an equilizer app. There are many available in the app store or play store. Here are the ones that users have rated as the best.
